Quintessa is an employee-owned company, whose management consists entirely of its professional staff. Quintessa aims to recruit and retain highly qualified staff with high reputations within their field of interest. The Company's business is carried out on a project-specific basis, with all permanent staff being capable of acting as project managers. A suitably qualified and experienced project manager is selected for each project, to be responsible for interactions with the client and to ensure that their requirements are met. The small number of people in the company, the participative approach to its management and the integration of project teams, all facilitate rapid and efficient internal communication.

The company brings together experienced consultants with an excellent track record in providing consultancy services for environmental appraisal and risk assessment to support decision making. Since 1999, the company has grown and now employs about 20 permanent staff many of whom have international experience spanning several decades. In addition, Quintessa has a network of associated individuals and companies, enabling it to draw on a wider range of expertise and experience, when required. Since it was established, Quintessa has undertaken over 350 projects for more than 40 clients in 17 countries.
The Company recognises that client satisfaction is enhanced through the effective application of a quality system, fostering best practice and including processes for continual improvement. Quintessa's Quality Management System (QMS) is based on the principle that quality is enhanced by working in a systematic manner with procedures to identify and eliminate deficiencies and to provide a traceable record of work quality.
The QMS was developed in accordance with the BS EN ISO 9000:2000 and BS EN ISO 9004:2000 guidelines, and meets the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2000. The QMS has been certified against these requirements.
