Geological Consulting
A key challenge for site investigation programmes is to integrate all the data from different disciplines and to evaluate it holistically in order to develop a coherent and consistent understanding of the site. The Geoscience Task Force (GTF) has the broad experience and geoscientific interpretation and modelling skills required to construct a range of alternative geological models and to estimate the degree of confidence that can be placed in them. This experience includes:
- 3-D geological modelling involving the integration of data from disparate sources, data validation, testing of alternative interpretations and the construction of three dimensional block models incorporating lithostratigraphical and structural data,
- Spatial validation of structural and stratigraphic interpretations,
- Attribute or property modelling including three-dimensional gridding of geological, hydrological and geotechnical data with or without geological control using kriging and conditional simulation geostatistical techniques,
- 3-D visualisation including interactive manipulation of three dimensional block models with rotation, section and plan slicing, peeling and layer removal in order to investigate the structure and distribution of properties in three-dimensional space,
- Animated visualisation of time series data,
- Model audit and confidence building using explicit uncertainty analysis and evidence-based reasoning,
- Bayesian approaches to faulting/fracturing.
