Simon Rookyard

Simon Rookyard
Location: Warrington

Simon studied as a physicist and has an MPhys and a PhD in astrophysics, both from the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester. His PhD research focussed on using statistical analyses of the intensity and polarisation of pulsar radio emission to construct a unified model of the behaviour of pulsars in the radio- and gamma-ray-emitting regimes. He is now based in Quintessa's Warrington office as a member of the Maths & Software team, providing statistical modelling support for EDF Energy’s advanced gas-cooled nuclear reactors in the UK.

Simon is a keen brass musician and the majority of his spare time is taken up as the resident bass trombonist for Tyldesley Brass Band. When not playing his instrument, he enjoys a spot of cycling on the Lancashire moors. He was also the 2015 world porridge making champion.
