As part of its continuing commitment to the sustainable use of the subsurface environment, Quintessa is delighted to be attending the Carbon Capture and Storage Conference at EAGE Global Energy Transition 2025 in Rotterdam from 27th-31st October.
EAGE GET is a gathering of geoscience, engineering and energy professionals from across the energy transition including carbon capture, geothermal energy and underground hydrogen storage. Josh Nicholas and Peter Webb will be attending the conference and are looking forward to presentations covering legacy well risks and monitoring technology in CCS, as well as the application of digital innovations and AI in the energy transition. At the meeting, Josh will be presenting his work on the influence of trapped brine on sealing of legacy boreholes by natural salt creep. Legacy boreholes could compromise the integrity of the store in CCS and other underground storage projects since halite formations can be considered as part of the seal in the long term. Josh’s presentation considers the impact of trapped brine on natural sealing through salt creep and the influence on the sealing of a borehole once engineered barriers fail.
